Professional Summary
From: Terrell, TX
Supervising Professor: Michael Thomson
Research focus: The focus of my research is genetic engineering and gene editing in rice and hemp. For rice, I am involved in a project to characterize CRISPR/Cas9 knockouts to provide early flowering time, as well as a second project to characterize loci conferring heat tolerance. For hemp, I’m attempting to knockout the THC gene in hemp so that farmers wouldn’t have to worry about burning their industrial hemp crop due THC levels above the federal legal limit of 0.3%.
