Professional Summary
Specialty: Environmental soil and water chemistry
Research focus:
My research focuses on understanding the fate and transport of organic contaminants—such as per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), pharmaceuticals and personal care products (PPCPs)—in both natural and engineered systems. I am particularly interested in advancing sustainable solutions for water safety hrough the development of cost-effective sorbents and innovative contaminant destruction technologies. By integrating environmental chemistry, materials science, and system-level analysis, my work aims to support the long-term resilience of soil and water resources in agricultural and rural communities through the following three research directions: (1) Investigating the mechanisms governing the transport, transformation, and bioavailability of emerging contaminants in soil-water-plant systems. (2) Designing and evaluating functionalized materials and destructive treatment strategies for emerging contaminants control in soil and water. (3) Developing scalable and cost-effective technologies for water quality monitoring, contaminant mitigation, and resource recovery in agricultural settings.
