Undergraduate Opportunities
Experiential Learning
Undergraduates are required to complete three semester credit hours of experiential learning. Students choose from internships, undergraduate research, a study abroad, or a combination of activities. For internships and undergraduate research please consult the Experiential Learning Manual below.
Forms for Current Students
Below are links to forms for current PSSC/TGSC students to complete in order to be registered for internship and undergraduate research hours. Students are required to get confirmation from an SCSC faculty member that the faculty member is willing to serve as instructor of record prior to completing the form.

Internships
The majority of students in the department complete paid summer internships to fulfill their experiential learning requirements. Students receive information through the department, and are encouraged to attend career fairs and network with faculty and industry professionals to secure internships.

Undergraduate Research
Students who choose to engage in undergraduate research participation in faculty research projects, including regional, national and international programs. Students have the opportunity to present their research findings at national professional meetings. Many undergraduates complete their research while being employed as part-time student workers in on-campus research programs.
Study Abroad
We offer study abroad programs that will take you to exotic rain forest in Brazil and to the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center, where Dr. Norman Borlaug conducted Nobel Prize winning research. Students may also participate in study abroad programs offered through other university departments.
Brazilian Agriculture and Food Production Systems
Led by Dr. Terry Gentry, this course studies the agriculture practices and culture related to soil, water, and forest conservation and management in Brazil.
International Agriculture Research Centers – Mexico
This course studies international agricultural research, CIMMYT interaction, modern and underdeveloped tropical agricultural systems and a critical evaluation of international agricultural issues and research programs.
