The Department of Soil and Crop Sciences at Texas A&M University is the only land grant university to offer 100% online, research based M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, as well as non-thesis M.S. degrees in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, and Soil Science. Our faculty conduct research in over 50 specific areas across a variety of soil and agronomy issues involving 13 agronomic crops in multiple climate ecosystems throughout the state of Texas. They are well positioned to mentor students from around the globe.
Agronomy
Our faculty specialize in many agronomy fields, ranging from digital agriculture to weed science. Through research and innovation, we improve crop production and weed management to help alleviate hunger and poverty.
Plant Breeding
As global demand for food, fiber and fuel grows, we train plant breeders to meet this challenge. Our distance education program extends this opportunity worldwide. Through plant improvement and education, we work to alleviate hunger and poverty and build a more food-secure future.
Soil Science
Food security and sustainability begin in the soil. Our faculty research soil microbiology, chemistry, pedology, physics, fertility and more. Learning from their expertise, our graduates go on to advance soil health, shape policy and strengthen food security and sustainability.
