McKnight honored as Beltwide Cotton Specialist of the Year
Ben McKnight, Ph.D., Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service statewide cotton specialist and assistant professor in the Texas A&M Department of Soil and Crop Sciences has been named the Beltwide Extension Cotton Specialist of the Year by the University Extension Cotton Specialists. In addition to McKnight’s honor, Department of Soil and Crop Sciences students excelled at the conference, earning top placements in poster and oral competitions.
AgriLife Research team to develop nitrogen-saving sorghum hybrids with DOE support
A Texas A&M AgriLife Research team is developing sorghums with nitrogen-saving traits by utilizing the genetic diversity of wild relatives to improve resilience and productivity for grain sorghum producers. The project is part of a $38 million overall grant announced by the U.S. Department of Energy, DOE, Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy, ARPA-E, to develop advanced plant technologies.
