Incoming Freshmen
Students wishing to become a Plant and Environmental Soil Science or Turfgrass Science major must meet the requirements for admission into Texas A&M University and have that major listed as their first or second choice. The Department of Soil and Crop Sciences does not have specific requirements for incoming freshmen.
Transfer Students
Students wishing to transfer into the Department of Soil and Crop Sciences from another academic institution should visit the Office of Admissions website for application information. When submitting your application, please be sure to explain why you would like to major in Plant and Environmental Soil Science or Turfgrass Science.
Transfer Requirements
- 2.5 GPA and 24 transferable, completed credit hours
Recommended Coursework:
- One of the following: MATH 140, 141, 142, 150, 151, 152, 166
- BIOL 101 or 111
- CHEM 119 (formerly CHEM 101/111)

Change of Major
Students interested in changing their majors to Plant and Environmental Soil Science or Turfgrass Science from another major at TAMU need to schedule an appointment with LeAnn Hague via email leann.hague@tamu.edu or book online.
To change their majors, current Aggies must have:
- Required – Interest in applied sciences and a 2.0 GPA
- Recommended – BIOL 111 and CHEM 119 and one completed MATH course
