Research. My goal is to understand the mechanisms that influence carbon, nitrogen and phosphorous cycling and loss to surface water under different land uses within watersheds. Good water
quality is, and will be, essential for sustainable population growth.
Teaching. Nutrient and Water Management: looks at the impact of different land uses on water quality and includes urbanization, forestry, agriculture and mining. This upper-level undergraduate course is designed to give you hands-on experience of water quality testing, statistical analysis and interpretation and scientific report writing. Lectures will provide you with a concise distillation of the subject matter drawn from classic studies and contemporary research. Past students of this course have taken positions as environmental consultants or state/federal employees with the department of environmental services or USDA.
