Research. Develop a better understanding of relationships of soils to the landscape, the properties of soils and how properties impact land use. Emphasis is placed on soil salinity, Charles Thomas (Tom) Hallmarksoil water, soil genesis and classification.

Teaching. Courses at the undergraduate level are designed to educate students in physical, chemical and biological reactions in soils that influence their use, their impact on the natural world , and their description, formation and classification. These and similar courses prepare students for careers as soil scientists, resource managers, consultants, regulators, agricultural producers, and graduate school. My graduate course provides an in-depth understanding of soil genesis, classification, and soil property characterization.
