I have an active teaching and research program in the broad area of Weed Science with emphasis on weed biology and ecology in cropping systems. The program gives balance to the Weed Science curriculum in James M. Chandlerthe Soil and Crop Sciences Department. The graduate course emphasizes fundamentals of weed invasion, development, persistence, and competition with agronomic crops. Consideration is given to cultural practices. The undergraduate course covers fundamentals of chemical weed control and herbicides in plants and soils. The research program explores and develops data in the areas discussed above with the ultimate goal of providing safe and economical weed control technology in both conventional and limited tillage systems used in South Central Texas. The research program is field orientated with supportive research conducted in the laboratory and growth chambers.
