Teaching:
Online Graduate Curriculum in Regulatory Science
The Regulatory Science in Food Systems curriculum at Texas A & M University is designed to provide regulators and industry personnel access to distance learning graduate courses that will equip them to improve the quality, safety and compliance of regulated food and feed products. By completing four courses in this curriculum, graduate students earn a Regulatory Science in Food Systems Graduate Certificate from Texas A&M University.
Online CEU Courses in HACCP for the Feed Industry
The Feed Industry HACCP curriculum at Texas A&M University emphasizes a science-based approach to risk management for identifying and managing hazards in feed ingredients and finished feed, and combines the application of management science and principles of hazard analysis and critical control point that are needed to maintain a safe manufacturing system for feed.
Research: Dr. Herrman’s research focuses on Regulatory Science and Competitiveness Strategies in the Feed and Grain Industry. This includes the development of food grade tracers for use in bulk grain; exploring co-regulation strategies in the feed and grain industry to manage food safety and economic risk while improving competitiveness for crop and livestock producers, grain handlers, and processors; and evaluating new technology and developing methods for detecting and controlling biological and chemical hazards in feed and food that advance the discipline of regulatory science.
