BUSHLAND – The Bushland Canola Field Tour has been set for May 3 at the Texas A&M AgriLife Research Bush Farm, located at 600 Farm-to-Market Road 2381 north of Bushland.

The tour will begin with registration from 9-9:30 a.m. and conclude by noon, according to Dr. Jourdan Bell, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service agronomist in Amarillo, who is growing the plots as part of a regional project to evaluate winter canola production on the Texas High Plains and Rolling Plains.

In addition to plot tours by Bell, attendees will hear about crop insurance for canola from Rachel Myers, Myers Crop Insurance in Claude; successful canola management strategies from Kelly Kohlmeier, ADM merchandiser in Lubbock; and marketing strategies for alternative crops from Dr. Calvin Trostle, AgriLife Extension agronomist in Lubbock.
